Thomas Mitchell
SOLICITOR
Thomas is a Solicitor at RTALS LLP.
A graduate of both Aberdeen (LLB Hons) and Edinburgh (DPLP) Universities, Thomas joined RTALS LLP in July 2017 and completed his traineeship with the firm. Having been interested in Civil Litigation from an early stage in his University studies, especially from the perspective of pursuers, Thomas relished the opportunity to represent RTALS clients (motorcyclists, cyclists and pedestrians) injured as the result of road traffic incidents.
As a keen cyclist himself, Thomas knows what it’s like to be a vulnerable road user. Having fulfilled a long time ambition of obtaining his Cat A full motorcycle licence in the summer of 2018 completing the Direct Access scheme, Thomas also understands the dangers which can come from motorised two wheeled travel on Scotland’s roads. He rides the firm's motorcycle, a Yamaha Tracer 900GT to and from Court consultations.
Thomas’ experience as both a cyclist and motorcyclist give him a unique perspective when it comes to progressing client’s claims. His ability to appreciate situations from the perspective of a cyclist or motorcyclist, allows him to effectively and emphatically put forward the best case for his clients.
Out of the office, Thomas can be found riding his mountain bike or road bike through the rolling hills of the Scottish Borders, underneath his old Land Rover attempting to fix its latest leak, or saving his pennies for that Triumph Bonneville he’s always wanted.
Thomas will be undertaking his Advanced Motorist training as part of the Borders Drivewise scheme during later this year.
